01App default

The app default is 0.8 g per lb of bodyweight — a practical target in the range supported by hypertrophy meta-analyses. You can raise it while cutting or ease it on a bulk. The goal is always derived from weight × factor, never a stale fixed number.

02FAQ

How much protein per pound of bodyweight?

0.8 g per lb is the default here and covers most lifters who train hard. Cutting pushes it toward 1 g/lb, since protein is what protects muscle in a deficit; a bulk can sit near 0.75.

Bodyweight or lean body mass?

Bodyweight — that's what this calculator multiplies. If you carry a lot of fat, enter a goal bodyweight instead, otherwise the target overshoots what you can actually use.

Is more protein better?

It flattens out. Past roughly 1 g per lb the extra grams mostly displace the carbs and fat you train on. The slider goes to 1.5 g/lb for people who want the ceiling anyway.

Do rest days need the same protein?

Yes. Repair runs for a day or two after a session, so the target is daily, not per workout.
